Ukulhas bikini beach: what to know, and staying close by

Enjoy swimming, time on the sand and the relaxed pace of Ukulhas' bikini beach. It's the island's designated area for swimwear, with the village close by when you'd like a meal or a change of scenery.

Stay at Koimala Beach and you're around a 2-minute walk from the bikini beach, making it easy to enjoy the shore throughout your visit.

What a bikini beach is

A bikini beach is a designated area where visitors can wear bikinis and swimsuits on a local Maldivian island. Elsewhere on Ukulhas, including the village, cafés and harbour, visitors are expected to dress modestly.

Dress and conduct on the rest of the island

Bring clothing to cover up when you leave the beach, whether you're heading into the village or back to your room. Alcohol and pork are prohibited on local islands, including Ukulhas. Please be considerate around homes and places of worship, such as the old Friday mosque, which dates to 1656.

Staying a short walk from the beach

Staying close to the beach gives you more freedom in how you spend the day. Enjoy a morning swim, explore the village over lunch or unwind in your room before another visit to the shore.

At Koimala, both room types offer air conditioning and an ensuite bathroom with hot and cold showers. Explore our rooms to choose your bedding and outlook, or browse the gallery for a closer look.
